History of IGNOU BAPSH Course
The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) introduced the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Political Science (BAPSH) program in 2020, marking a significant milestone in the university’s commitment to providing accessible and quality higher education in the field of political science. This program was designed to cater to the growing demand for in-depth knowledge and understanding of political concepts, institutions, and processes, both at the national and international levels.
Prior to the introduction of BAPSH, IGNOU offered a Bachelor of Arts (BA) program in Political Science, which provided a broad overview of the subject. However, the BAPSH program aimed to provide a more specialized and rigorous education, equipping students with the analytical and critical thinking skills necessary to engage with complex political issues.
The BAPSH program is structured around a core curriculum of political science courses, supplemented by interdisciplinary electives, ability enhancement courses, and skill enhancement courses. This comprehensive approach ensures that students gain a well-rounded understanding of political science while also developing essential transferable skills.
In its short history, the BAPSH program has attracted a diverse student body, reflecting IGNOU’s mission of providing inclusive and equitable access to higher education. Students from all walks of life, including working professionals, stay-at-home parents, and individuals from remote areas, have found the program to be a valuable tool for personal and professional advancement.
