What is the UP TGT Exam?
The Uttar Pradesh Trained Graduate Teacher (UP TGT) Exam is a state-level recruitment test conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Service Selection Board (UPSESSB) to appoint qualified Trained Graduate Teachers for Class 6th to 10th for various subjects in government schools across Uttar Pradesh. The exam is conducted in the form of a Written Examination comprising 125 multiple-choice questions, each carrying 04 marks. The Written Exam will be conducted for a total of 500 marks, to be conducted over a duration of 2 hours. Questions from subjects including General Awareness, General English, Quantitative Aptitude, and the candidate’s chosen subject specialization will be asked in the exam. UP TGT Selection Process 2025
The UP TGT selection process will be based on two rounds:
Stage 1: Written Test
The written exam is the primary and most important stage of UP TGT 2025 recruitment. Candidates are expected to appear for a written test to be judged on their knowledge and understanding related to the subject that one is applying for, along with general aptitude. There are MCQs that come across the syllabus of a respective subject, besides some sections like General Knowledge, General English, and Teaching Aptitude. The written exam would be the process to check not only theoretical knowledge but practical skills to apply for the position of TGT. Proper and concise preparation in advance is required to face the next stages of selection process.
Stage 2: Document Verification
Candidates then enter the document verification process if they clear the written examination. This process ensures that all documents provided by the candidate are valid and as per the eligibility criteria laid down by the recruitment authority. Original documents such as educational certificates, identity proof, caste certificates (if applicable), etc. have to be provided by candidates. In case of discrepancies or fraudulent documents, the candidate is disqualified. Document verification is one of the most important steps that guarantees only the eligible and genuine candidates are selected for a final appointment.
The candidates who applied for Uttar Pradesh TGT will be selected based on their performance in the written test, which will be an objective type test of 500 marks. Candidates who meet the cutoff marks will be eligible for further selection and will be eligible for the document verification round.
